Kevin B. Murphy is Chairman, PATA Executive Board


The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) announces the election of Kevin B. Murphy, President & CEO, Asiawide Hospitality Solutions (AHS), Hong Kong SAR & Thailand, as Chairman of the PATA Executive Board. Murphy replaces W. Scott Supernaw, who served as Chairman of PATA since April 2013 and will remain on the Executive Board as PATA Immediate Past Chairman. A member of PATA since 1984, Murphy was awarded the PATA Order of Merit in 2003, the PATA Chairman’s Award in 2006 and in 2008, PATA Life Membership for his continued contributions in past roles to the association’s members and in the growth of responsible and sustainable tourism in the Asia Pacific region.

Taj Group hosts opening party to launch Taj Dubai


Taj Group recently celebrated the launch of Taj Dubai, their first luxury hotel in Downtown Dubai. The event was hosted by Rakesh Sarna, Managing Director and CEO, Taj Group, and witnessed the presence of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive, Emirates Airline and Group, as Guest of Honour; noted personalities from the travel industry; and the crème de la crème of the city, as per a release.

Located in the heart of the city, Taj Dubai is surrounded by the Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall, and Business Bay.

The evening started with Shillong Chamber Choir, who performed to the notes of the electric string quartet, Asturia, seen for the first time in Dubai. The Taj service team showcased the dining experiences by serving the culinary delicacies from the various restaurants at the hotel.

Commenting on the occasion, Jason Harding, General Manager and Area Director, Taj Dubai, said, “It gives me immense pleasure to welcome our esteemed guests for this highly anticipated evening, as we bring in the legendary Taj hospitality to the world’s most vibrant city, Dubai.”

SpiceJet announces additional flights connecting Delhi to Amritsar, Bengaluru


MUMBAI: Budget carrier SpiceJet Friday announced additional flights connecting Delhi to Amritsar, Bengaluru, and Dharamshala for the peak summer period, and to Dehradun until October 24.

The Amritsar, Dehradun and Dharamshala flights will be operated by SpiceJet's Bombardier Q400 aircraft, and the Bangalore flight by Boeing 737s. With these new flights, frequency of service for the summer will increase from 7 to 13 flights weekly to Dharamshala, from 7 to 14 flights weekly to Amritsar, from 14 to 20 flights weekly to Dehradun, and from 21 to 25 flights weekly to Bengaluru from Delhi.
